Conventions are so silly.
Rupert and I were watching Bill Clinton give his speech last night and couldn’t help but notice how incredibly stupid adults look when they wave 3-foot high/6-inch wide placards - with someone else’s name on them - in the air. Especially when every single person in the entire room does so and thus you can’t see any actual people. Just placards. It’s stupid.
Another thing I couldn’t help but notice is that Bill Clinton is still an asshole.
Also, Rupert was in the kitchen making dinner - barefoot - when some of this was going on and he made the very cogent point that if he didn’t already know that the two voices he was hearing were Bill O’Reilly’s and Karl Rove’s, he would swear that what was on the TV was an NFL game, with all the screaming and yelling and rock music in the background.
Anyway, I have too much school shit to do this morning to play with the blog so I figured, open thread time! What does everyone think about the convention? How about Obama’s speech tonight? Precisely how empty, pointless, vacuous, and “glamorous” will it be? I give it a presumptive 10 out of 10 on that scale, myself.
(Reminder about comments: about 10% of them still go to moderation automatically, which I won’t be on the computer for a few hours to clear out. Sorry about that but it’s spam warfare and you are innocent victims caught in the crossfire.)

Didn’t watch any of the Clinton’s speeches. Seriously–they expect me to take up my free time listening to assholes like that? Same thing with Obama. Not voting for his stupid ass, so I’m certainly not going to waste my time listening to him.
I can think of a thousand other things I’d rather do than watch that collection of freaks and dirty hippies known as the Democratic National Convention.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:16 amYou and Rupert are better than me, Rachel. I can’t stand the thought of watching two of the most long-winded men in the history of politics (Clinton & Biden) drone on, and on, and on.
Hillary was a Good Little Soldier the night before (and I admire her for it), but christ on a cornchip, her voice grates me!
Any one else her think that Obama came out at the end of Biden’s speech (Surprise! Not.) because he is trying to diffuse the fact that his first appearance in Denver was to be at the Temple of Bombast set up in the Bronco’s stadium? They all know now that such a theatrical setting (”Hail Ceasar!”)was a bad idea, so they were trying to insert him back into the traditional convention setting before it was too late. Amateurs!
August 28th, 2008 at 9:19 amBiden had to really work the rhetoric before the crowd caught on. He probably said “THAT’S NOT CHANGE! THAT’S MORE OF THE SAME” a good 10 times before the crowd caught on and started their dutiful echoing of his repetition.
I mean, the convention crowd has two jobs - look enthralled and repeat catch phrases when prompted.
Also, I liked how Bill was getting a bit torqued when the crowd wouldn’t settle -I half expected him to yell at ‘em, “SIT THE F’ DOWN AND SHUT THE F’ UP!”
August 28th, 2008 at 9:20 amDave says:
Also, I liked how Bill was getting a bit torqued when the crowd wouldn’t settle -I half expected him to yell at ‘em, “SIT THE F’ DOWN AND SHUT THE F’ UP!”
Oh, if only!
August 28th, 2008 at 9:22 amOh…and I hope that Obama does show up “at Mile High,” while the crowd waits patiently at Invesco. He’ll be in a parking lot thinking, “This wasn’t the plan!”
August 28th, 2008 at 9:22 amI expect Gilderoy Lockhart Obama’s speech to be a magnificent, thundering success.
For Republicans.
Not that I intend to watch it, y’understand. I have many better things to do with my time than watch that narcissistic snob prattle at length about how he intends to ruin America. But I’ve already read and heard enough about it to expect it to be, as I said, a thundering success for Republicans, a complete deflation for the Vermin Party, and the most effective act of political suicide since Mike Dukakis took that buggy ride in an M-1.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:24 amHillary didn’t throw a snit fit and have a coup for the nomination, so the convention has lost my interest. So it’s just more of the usual Barak Obama being the Great Black Hope, the Obamamessiah, the Next President of the United States (seriously, you can hear the capitalization of that “Next” every time they say it) and the one guy who is going to lead all Americans to the promised land where there is jobs on every corner, free health care in every hospital, Evil Capitalist Businessmen hanging from every lamp-post, and money just rains from the sky. So really I have better things to do, like pay my bills, do laundry, reduce the size of my Netflix list, watch paint dry, measure the hourly rate of grass grow; that kind of stuff.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:33 amMy wife just started a masters program so she can get out of the classroom, she’s a high school english teacher and has too many years left in TRS (teacher retirement system) to go to the private sector now. God bless you for all the work that you’ve signed up for! We, (our two boys and I) spent our summer vacations in Canada and Mexico watching mom tap on her laptop till she almost passed out! Thank goodness the drinks are cheap and plentiful in Mexico!!
The convention reminds me of a WWF main event, talk about catering to the lowest common denominator! Here’s some of the entertainers in and around the conventions for both parties:
Democratic Convention:
Kanye West
Wyclef Jean
N.E.R.D
James Taylor
Tony Bennett
John Legend
Idina Menzel (Wicked)
Black Eyed Peas
Willie Nelson
Melissa Ethridge
Rage Against the Machine
Republican Convention:
Chris Daughtry (American Idol)
LeAnn Rimes
Sammy Hagar
Gretchen Wilson
Smash Mouth
Beach Boys
John Rich (Big and Rich)
Cowboy Troy
Styx
The Charlie Daniels Band
Everything seems about normal for the choices between the two parties. Pretty much the Democrats choose NON family based entertainers including racists, anarchists, dopeheads, heroin addicts, the gender confused and the like but one that surprises me is the choice of “Rage against the Machine”. Self professed anarchists who think, well you can see for yourself what they think at their website, take note of the background pictures used in the html header.
http://www.ratm.com/
They want to redistribute your wealth to illegal migrant workers!! That’s no shit! Illegals to get your hard earned money!! Hell I thought Hillary and Obama were bad!!
I’m waiting for the Democrats “Rage Against the Machine” concert to see if those asswipes (I refuse to call them artists) are going to strip naked and stand there for fifteen minutes like they did in this shot. Warning, graphic and nasty!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Lollapaloozaratm.jpg
Check out the chapter 2.5 on the wikipedia link to read about their actions during the 2004 Democratic convention on the link below. Do the Democrats have a death wish? Evidently!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rage_Against_the_Machine
August 28th, 2008 at 9:36 amYou said it all right there.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:39 amBill Clinton is a skwerl-lookin, bathroom carpet-layin cat.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:44 amDoes that cover the bases? ASShole!
ROFLMAO!!
That is sooooo good.
August 28th, 2008 at 9:48 amAll I’ll be thinking about is that Star Trek episode where the Greek god Apollo grabs the Enterprise and demands that the crew worship him and bring him flowers and stuff.
Captain Kirk kicks his ass and Apollo fades away, mourning that no one will worship him any more.
Yeah, that’s about right.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:12 amMy fiance suggested that Obama dress the Secret Service in purple Praetorian Guard robes; works for me!
BTW, has South Park spoofed Obama yet? SOOOOO much material!!!
August 28th, 2008 at 10:12 amI’m hoping it rains in Denver tonight. I really think that this will backfire on Obama. He doesn’t do his speech at the convention, he needs an entire stadium. And not only does he need an entire stadium, he needs to have a special set built that looks awfully like Ancient Rome, either to inspire that or to inspire visions of DC. I think no matter what people will end up looking at this like he’s an egomaniacal elitist prick.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:21 amBill Clinton still an a$$hole. Squirrels are a$$holes. Bill Clinton is a squirrel?
If I have to watch the Messiah tonsil-hockey Biden’s wife again, I’m certain I will barf up an organ.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:25 amConvention? There’s a convention?
Oh, that convention. I’d rather dig my eyes out with a grapefruit spoon. What do I care what a bunch of crazy Marxists are doing?
August 28th, 2008 at 10:31 amI too have better things to do with my time than watch a bunch of whiny assholes pat each other on the back.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:34 amObama already lost the other night when Hillary’s speech showed the Dems they made a big mistake. A good 45 % of the Dems are pissed, not pissed like us conservatives get, pissed like the rabid screeching protesting liberals we see on TV.
Now that same 45% think that this was all a fix, that Obama sees himself as a God, as Hillary got shit on. They’ll literally shit tonight as he appears at the Parthenon, invoking phrases from MLK. They shit themselves last night when Bill’s speech reminded them they wanted a CLINTON, not some inexperienced newcomer from Chicago. They feel screwed, and as we all know, Democrats take ACTION when the feel screwed.
The convention was the worst possible thing that could have happened for Obama.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:41 amThere’s a convention going on?
August 28th, 2008 at 10:45 amToday’s conventions are pale shadows of what political conventions used to be. Read some H. L. Mencken on the subject, if you don’t believe me (in fact, read some H. L. Mencken anyway). Indeed, Mencken predicted that the conventions would turn into hollow stage shows when he saw how newsreel coverage and (I believe) early television were effecting them.
There was a time when each major convention was likely to turn into a grand political brawl, and nobody in the history of letters covered it better than Mencken.
If that time ever comes again, it will be at a Democrat convention. Their self-selected elite have held control too tightly for too long. If not at this convention (over Hillary vs Obama-Rama-Ding-Dong), then soon. When Obama crashes and burns, bringing in the District of Columbia and nobody else. Or when (God help us) he’s up for re-election with Carter era Stagflation and the international scene dissolving into goo. That Party is due for an epic bloodletting.
The Republicans, not so much. Their intra-party fights will take place on the State level, as people tire of Rino-reps, and work to replace them with less spendthrift pols.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:55 amDid anyone else notice the bumper music that was plying as Mr. Clinton walked to the podium?
“Dont stop, thinking about tomorrow,
August 28th, 2008 at 10:58 amDont stop, itll soon be here,
Itll be, better than before,
Yesterdays gone, yesterdays gone.
Why not think about times to come,
And not about the things that youve done,”
Best show yet was the UFO watcher, Kucinich jumping up and down. Read over at Freerepublic the perfect description: “a meth addled smurf.”
The toga party tonight should be fun!
August 28th, 2008 at 11:11 amNylecoj: Then there was the Michelle Obumper music, “Isn’t She Lovely” by Mr. Wonder. Stevie’s blind, but even he ought to be able to see through to the anti-American hatred fermenting in Michelle’s soul.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:16 ami thnk I’ve given Obama every chance to prove that he is pro-American and that he truly cares about me and my concerns.
And he’s proven otherwise in every area.
he doesn’t care about ME, or my country. And he doesn’t care that I think he doesn’t care, either. he’s dismissed me as a non-thinker, a non-seeer, a hater.
I’m no hater. Obama and Mrs have shown me far more disregard and disrespect than I ever have shown them.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:17 amCaught Bill’s speech last night but I couldn’t stomach sticking around for Biden’s harangue.
What a downer the DNC is! Same old, same old: America’s not what she once was, racism is keeping people of color from achieving the American Dream, the middle class is swirling around the drain, things are so bad, etc., etc., ad infinitum. That’s not my America, and I don’t have the patience for such drivel.
Nylecoj: I noticed the song, too. (WTF?) Hillary was singing along pretty heartily for a few moments though.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:30 amConvention? There’s a convention going on? Where?
Wait…you mean the toga party in Denver? Pfft…who cares? Watching the convention is like getting up early on Saturday to watch infomercials. Yawn.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:36 amC. S. P. Schofield - excellent summary.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:40 amI had fun with the convention on my blog today. I talk about all the Clintons: Chelsea, Bill, Hillary, and that interplanetary funkologist, George (complete with a youtube vid) Clinton Shines a Light (and gets funky)
August 28th, 2008 at 11:48 amIf you really want to see just how f-ing insane Liberals are today, log on to Craigslist: Discussion Groups/ Politics World .
August 28th, 2008 at 11:48 amThese people are bat shit crazy. Conspiracy theories are abundant and span the full spectrum of moonbattery. Initially it is entertaining, but as you read further, it quickly takes on a more sinister feeling. Oh, and….they’re all Obama supporters.
“Another thing I couldn’t help but notice is that Bill Clinton is still an asshole. ”
Ya THINK?????
August 28th, 2008 at 11:50 am“What do I care what a bunch of crazy Marxists are doing?”
well, when they’re trying to destroy our country,we HAVE to care
August 28th, 2008 at 11:52 amI try to stay away from political conventions; they tend to overload my bullshit meter.
August 28th, 2008 at 11:53 amI’m sorry, but if Barack Obama wanted me to watch his speech he should have had someone who wasn’t a moron schedule it.
From CNN:
From ESPN:
Really, people. Opening night of football season? You have got to be kidding me.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:00 pmHo hum…I’m sure John “I am such a great American hero and that certainly should be enough for me to be president” McCain is going to be such a thrill to behold next week. Roll out the flags, let the tears begin to fall…hopefully he actually remembers the convention is next week.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:04 pmI thought Michelle sounded like a conservative until she started talking about her adult life. No wonder she isn’t proud of much in her adult life. Sounded like life from 1964 - 1982 or so was pretty good. Sounds like her Dad was a good dad.
I just get tired of bleeding hearts trying to legislate charity. If she wants people to volunteer, so be it. Don’t make me pay for it. Don’t implement government programs. That is not constitutional. Just volunteer and shut your fuckin’ yap. Like Cindy McCain. Or like countless other anonymous nice people. She reminds me of the dorks at United Way who pester millions of people for money, but they don’t “give” their time. The CEO banked over a million fucking dollars last year. Then there is the Salvation Army. I rang the bell for extra Christmas money for years. One year the commander asked me why I can’t volunteer and do it for free (on crack street, by the way). I asked her if she is being paid for her work, including the “interview” I was a part of. She mumbled incoherently and turned red. I said good luck and walked out.
Charity is great. Especially when you don’t bang a fucking cymbal and gong announcing how fucking charitable you are.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:10 pmSorry to disappoint buzzion, but its calling for one of those late summer, perfect Denver evenings. Probably be in the 70’s by the time Barry hits “Temple Obama”.
DaveS…Invesco Field = Mile High. Barry was kissing up to die hard Bronco fans who can’t bring themselves to call the place Invesco.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:11 pmman I love you Rachel! You give us an “open thread” by asking what we think of the convention?
August 28th, 2008 at 12:16 pmDNC convention going on? Can’t be. I have only been watching poll results and the best Obama can do is stay level, on some he drops. During your convention you get a jump in the polls. So it can’t be the DNC convention now.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:28 pmNylecoj - that song was used at the 1992 convention, except it was looped for what seemed like an eternity. It’s the Clinton’s theme song. (Darn shame too - that’s actually a pretty catchy song.) It is ironic, though, that a song about forgetting the past is used to inspire people to remember the past.
I have watched 0 minutes of the convention to this point. Programming, check. Camping, check. Geocaching, check. Convention, oh well…
This thing was over this past Saturday at 3am anyway - what an awesome day!
August 28th, 2008 at 12:31 pmWho Mourns for Obama? should be the title of tonight’s show. And hopefully he’ll fade into the sunset after the election in November, if not before.
The man is scary. Honestly, trying to intimidate TV stations into not airing factually correct ads, trying to sic the Justice Department on conservative donors, riling up his base and getting them to flood a radio show with negative comments - because the guest is exposing parts of his past that he wants to keep quiet…its fascism at it’s finest.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:39 pmI did not realize that it was their theme song, but I think they were not too swift to allow it to be played in this context. All I heard was a not so subliminal message of out with the bad old (Clinton’s) and in with the new. I think the DNC is tired of the Clinton’s. The Hill and Bill show will have a fight on their hands to stay ‘relevant’
The funniest thing about this is that is about the only two minutes I sawe of this thing. I didn’t hear his speech. I heard the song on my way out the door to go home from work.
Indeed!
August 28th, 2008 at 12:45 pmCourtesy of Jason Aslinger at the Darke County GOP blog, there is a picture of Obama’s stage for tonight and a humorous story. http://darkegop.blogspot.com/2008/08/barack-obama-greek-god.html
I’m no good at uploading pictures, otherwise I would put it here instead of just linking to the site.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:46 pmI wonder how long it took her to realize just what she was singing along to.
August 28th, 2008 at 12:55 pmAs the only person here who is, well, a dirty hippy liberal, and probably the only person voting for Obama (because I will not be voting for John McCain - but rest assured, I live in Arizona, so it’s unlikely my vote will count anyway), I’ll say this.
It’s boring. As in, REALLY boring.
It’s hard to go from the Olympics to this.
I do wonder if all of those hating on the Dems will be watching next week, though…
August 28th, 2008 at 1:05 pmOMG! Rupert’s pregnant?
Just heard a report via Rush that they are supposedly hauling a mock up of Air Force One to the stadium for tonight. Geez, what a circus. At least the Third Reich made great theater… this is just pathetic.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:17 pmA teleprompter and a fake smile would round this one out.

August 28th, 2008 at 1:21 pmObama Votebots I can abide by around here. What I cannot abide by are those who profess to be devout Christians and yet think Obama had been sitting at the right hand of the Father for the past 2000 years before he came down to run for President. How the F do you vote for someone like Obambitch who is to the left of NARAL, doesn’t know when life really begins because that’s “above his pay grade”, but let’s just twirl up an unborn baby into itty bitty bits with a coat hanger because we’re pretty sure the Man Upstairs won’t have a problem with it.
Sorry for being pissy. I haven’t eaten today.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:23 pmI’m still suffering from partial blindness from Hillary’s orange pantsuit.
The whole thing is boring me now, and I refuse to watch any more footage of it unless it’s on the Late Show rather than the news.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:27 pmOMG! Take a look at the stage for his acceptance speech tonight …
EEEVVIILL laugh!
EDIT: OOPS, sorry Matt, should have read the comments before I commented [red face]
August 28th, 2008 at 1:32 pmI am soooo glad that I work 4PM to midnight. I get to avoid all the lovely evening TV programming.
Tom, you are so right about that!
August 28th, 2008 at 1:33 pmyay conventions
August 28th, 2008 at 1:47 pmBitch git in the kitchen and bake me a pah!
August 28th, 2008 at 1:48 pmMonkeyhumper Says:
Excellent!
August 28th, 2008 at 1:49 pmThat should be chiseled in stone.
Dreading the RNC when it comes to the Twin Cities. Thankfully it’s on the East side (St. Paul) of the river, so I’ll avoid the worst of it. But I’m sure the effects will bleed over to the West side (Minneapolis).
Hopefully the idiot protesters will stay over in St. Paul, and won’t be shitting all over downtown Minneapolis. That would suck.
August 28th, 2008 at 2:03 pmLuckily I don’t have cable TV subscription, so I’ve had the tragedy of having missed every single brilliant moment of the convention. Pity me.
August 28th, 2008 at 2:09 pmLive from the Denver Parthenon … a truly tasteless Christian joke …
He may not be Zeus, but apparently he thinks he is related.
August 28th, 2008 at 2:50 pmDon’t have tv. Will just have to read about on your blog:)
August 28th, 2008 at 3:23 pmAll the idiots currently reside in Minneapolis, so there will be a massive exodus of tools once we get started. Don’t they realize, though, that by moving to St. Paul for the week, that they will, in fact, have “swung to the right?”
If they lay a finger on White Bear Lake I’m crackin’ skulls.
August 28th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
August 28th, 2008 at 4:12 pmIt just occurred to me why I wasn’t watching the convention last night:
Project Runway
I’m selective in my choice of contrived drama to watch. And forget Barack Obama or John McCain - I’m voting for Tim Gunn.
August 28th, 2008 at 4:49 pmI don’t have tv either. In fact, I think it’s a lot easier to see through Obama when you don’t ever watch him speechify. And Biden, guess that kills their argument about McCain being too old.
I had some guy try to gain my sympathy about his internet being down by telling me he was missing out on the convention. Should have told him we’d get it fixed in time for the Repubs
August 28th, 2008 at 4:56 pmRemember the saying, ‘keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.’ That is why watching some of the convention should be important. I’m one of those evil turncoats who voted for Hill and will now be voting for McCain (without a moment’s hesitation).
Mongoman has been trying to turn my head from the party since I have known him, but I think my jumping ship is more party-induced than husband nagging. However, he did make me endure the MSNBC version of ‘journalism’ last night. I still have the scars, they are all mental and they all look like Keith Oberwhatzhishnuts. As I commented to my huz, I was stunned KO could take his mouth off of Obama’s cock long enough to comment on anything.
It is also amusing to watch Michelle Obama’s transformation into Jackie Kennedy. Except she still has that ugly, I hate all you fukkas look on her face. In the party’s desire to bring ‘Camelot’ back, I’m surprised that wasn’t the stage setting. I guess there aren’t enough subliminal penis structures in a castle.
August 28th, 2008 at 5:04 pmWords cannot express how totally awesome (in like the most hilarious way ever) it’s going to be watching Zeus ascend through the floor of the o-cropolis. It’s just too bad the Democratic party was apparently out of unicorns for him to exit upon.
August 28th, 2008 at 5:17 pmEverytime I hear “DNC” I think of “D&C” and it makes me want to perform a brain scrape on myself in order to remove all libtard convention images from my memory banks.
Just a little free association of acronyms after a long day with students.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:10 pmWhen I see that thing in the stadium, all I can hear is the “Horst Wessel-Lied” and crowds yelling “sieg heil!”
What schmucks.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:21 pmI haven’t seen any of it so far. There are blogs to read and Phillies games to watch.
From what I’ve read, it’s been disappointing. I was hoping for thousands of freaks, communists, and anarchists trying to disrupt everything in sight, thus showing normal Americans the kind of people the Democrat Party attracts. But apparently the protest contingent has been pretty small and inconsequential.
I’ll probably watch The One’s speech tonight, though. But I don’t know what time it’s supposed to start.
August 28th, 2008 at 6:28 pmIdina Menzel????? Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Say it ain’t so! She’s the performer I always wanted to be! One of the most talented singers out there! My friggin’ favorite! *sniff* If I didn’t have a huge girl crush on Rachel, Idina would be the top of my list. *cry*
August 28th, 2008 at 6:55 pmIf I had the leet computer skillz (and software; all I’ve got is Windows Moviemaker, and I don’t know how to do this sort of thing) I’d want to take a clip of Obama’s speech and put different words to it:
“I have existed from the morning of the world, and I shall exist until the last star falls from the heavens! Although I have taken the form of Gaius Caligula, I am all men as I am no man, and therefore…I am a god!”
–from the classic movie.
I wonder what would happen if some nasty, evil, wicked people made a commercial like that and got it onto the Tube?
August 28th, 2008 at 6:56 pmLOVE Idina Menzel. Great performer, fabulous voice. The other Dem picks are rather lame.
The Reps, on the other hand - GREAT performers!
I think they far outweigh what the Dems are putting on .
August 28th, 2008 at 7:26 pmI’ve noticed a lot less “Fuck McCain” posts here lately. I wonder if this is because MCCain is winning people over, with things like his performance at Saddleback…………..
or,
…….are people just starting to believe what Rachel wrote months ago about Obama being dangerous?
Obama is dangerous to the American way of life. Good thing he won’t win.
August 28th, 2008 at 8:38 pmI think I’m going to stick a pen in my eye. Obama-nation is giving his acceptance speech. Most classic line ever: “I am my brother’s keeper.” Shit, I’d hate to hand my country over to him seeing how well he keeps his brother. We’d all be living in shacks in Nairobi!
August 28th, 2008 at 9:35 pmok, two words……Bob Barr! at this point I see no good alternative, but I know that is a lost cause. blech, McCain.Boo Hoo
August 28th, 2008 at 9:43 pmBetter than socialism
Obama said, “This election is not about me; it’s about you.”
At that moment the camera showed “www.barackobama.com” in huge letters above the video screen in the stadium.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:25 pmWhen I changed the channel to watch the Speech the Phillies were leading the Cubs 4-1. When I changed back after the end, the Cubs were up 6-4.
Coincidence? I think not.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:26 pmhi_desertgirl, I’m convinced BO’s brother moved there so BO wouldn’t hassle him about turning down the thermostat.
August 29th, 2008 at 9:12 amThere isnt enough popcorn to compensate me for watching the Demo convention. Not a bit of it. For true humor and intellectual stimulation, I have SouthPark reruns.
August 29th, 2008 at 9:51 amThe only comment I have about the DNC is that I thought it stood for “Dusting ‘N Cleaning” which most of you should know means a little something else…
However, at present, I’m basking in the pleasure of how big an ass kicking McCain/Palin are going to give to Barry and the plagiarist.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:11 amHmmmm…ElvenPhoenix said the GOP had better entertainment and I can’t find anything as to who is performing at the convention….except for some little piddly reggaeton group called Daddy Yankee. (??)
As to the Dems having “lame” picks - seriously? John Legend? Bruce Springsteen?
August 29th, 2008 at 11:36 amKate P: made me lol. Thanks!
August 29th, 2008 at 2:16 pmChrist on a cookie,
Thanks! I guess I drew your attention by paraphrasing something you said and someone else wrote down a while ago. Thanks for forgiving my vernacular and thanks for the vehicle for origin of thought in the first place. I still try to base it on your teachings, believe it or not. I admit that I’m still struggling with the give to Caeser and give to You stuff. That said, I’ll return to remembering You with my next sip. “This do in remembrance of me”, right?

Yeah, that whole Caeser scene is taken soooooo out of context. I thought I made myself perfectly clear, but I guess people would rather just throw thier money away and bitch about it later. Here’s the deal with the caesers. Every ruling caeser had his face on the coins.
No dead caeser’s face was. You see what I’m gettin’ at here? Ya’ll been hoodwinked.
As far as the giving to me? Well you’ll have to fill me in on what you’ve been told to give to me ’cause there is alot of crap that’s been attached to me that would make me laugh myself to death if I took it seriously.
Remember me with this sip? Sure! Hell let’s get a keg and schedule some bands and celabrate,..er,..sela br8,..er.
Damn it!
Let’s have a PARTY!

Might be different in your neck of the woods, but out here west of I25 no one I know refers to Invesco as “Mile High.” The investors tried, concatenating it into the name and all. Didn’t work.
Mile High is gone. People park on it now. We only have the memories.
