As per usual, the left is keepin’ it classy.
This is the most fun I’ve had on the internet since Al Gore invented it. Holiday weekends are usually the slowest but this one is like a turbo bullet train and I’m totally enchanted and mesmerized. Not even so much about Palin herself as the reaction to her on both sides, such as the right’s giant collective woody and the left’s giant collective fetal-position thumb-sucking crying-itself-to-sleep heartache. How’s the left dealing with everything? With pure solid-gold class, that’s how.
Protein Wisdom has a fantastic roundup of the insanity, and Ace of Spades has many quotes from liberal sites that you seriously might not want to read because like he says, it’ll make your teeth hurt.
And who can doubt that the announcement that 17-year-old Palin daughter Bristol is preggers will drive certain leftists completely off the deep end in an orgy of impotent joy that now they can drag a minor into the election combat zone? This is the best news they’ve heard in weeks so you can’t blame them for their ecstasy. The only thing that might make them happier is if she had an abortion.
Hope! Change!
Meanwhile, both Michael Moore and Former DNC Chairman Don Fowler have said that the hurricane hitting New Orleans on the first day of the RNC convention is proof that God is on their side. Cassy has the videos.
The elegance, maturity, and flat-out gravitas of these people is simply making me swoon.
But no one and I mean no one can match the charm and sophistication of my new Biggest Fan, who posted four comments between 2:09 and 2:32 p.m. yesterday, all with the same IP address but each with a different fake email address and different moniker, clearly meant to showcase his or her cleverness and creativity. I already told Rupert I’m leaving him for this genius. Rupert cried a little but when I showed him the comments, he completely understood and was actually a little jealous because he, too, wants this person so very, very badly.
Marry Me | Aug 31, 2:09 PM
All the Repubican women were looking mighty arrogant today, more so than normal! They had a new perky gleam in their eyes, as if the election had won and now Palin was the new President! er, Vice President!
I wasn’t going to vote for McCain before this! Now I am surely going to vote for O’Bama in November! What kind of sexual favor did Karl Rove have to enact to get Palin to accept? Gawd.
Like I give a crap about the anti god abortion stance. F’ing stupid Alaskin Beaver.
Miss My rights | Aug 31, 2:11 PM
fuck you and your fucking bullshit blog asswipe woman.
Jennifer Micaels | Aug 31, 2:14 PM
Hi! I am just so excited about our new Vice President! I could just HUG McCain and the party for this wonderful gift to our country! I too am a huntress, and I skin all my kills and drape them all over my house and office! I also have been accused of abusing power ! Once when my exboyfriend who used to work for my brother, was caught cheating on me, I managed to get him beat up good! I can’t wait for the election! I am all for corrupt government! Just like the last 8 years! PRO LIFE PRO LIFE!!!!!! MCCAIN/PALIN!!!!
Marirose Flecher | Aug 31, 2:32 PM
yeah, I saw all kinds of enthusiasts just like this last week on the Democratic convention! All 80,000 plus people packed into the Denver Mile High Stadium!! I don’t think they are very impressed by some chick who can run out to her backyard and kill a grizzly bear, eating her bird and squirrel seeds, and someone who can stand in a river and net a salmon, cause its ALASKA! duh. Also, we have always been suckered into the stupid Pro Life crap, hey, what is her stance on gays btw? Just wondering, that should come up next . Joe Biden has a lot of kids too, 2 of them he raised without his first wife a couple of really hard years. I just don’t think me and the gals are gonna go throwing a big gala party and raise money for a losing battle , McCain/Palin. She’s being investigated for abuse of power isn’t she? Had fired someone because they wouldn’t fire her brother in law? Nasty divorce between bro in law and her sister? Yeah, she’s being investigated. All isn’t well. don’t go getting too excited. If you lived in Alaska you could find a bear just about anywhere, well, no , not on the polar ice, anymore. What’s her stance on the environment? What? too busy hunting and abusing her power you say? hmmm…. no, all is not well in the McCain Camp. Im with Obama Biden. At least, they aren’t corrupt.
Of course, these were caught by my moderation filter and I didn’t clear them for publication because I felt that my admiration and desire for this person were better served by sharing the greatness with all who can handle it. But none of you better get any funny ideas! This master of nuance and ennui is alllll mine, baby.

Well Bristol’s pregnant. This is a disaster. I wonder how Rachel will spin this.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:14 pm“O’Bama”?
That, all of the other weird spellings, and general stream of consciousness just go to show that one should lay off the marijooahnah before commenting on a blog.
What a miserable waste of flesh.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:20 pmOh big deal, a 17 year old is pregnant for the first time in the history of the world. Please pass the smelling salts, and then explain to me why it’s any of our business.
September 1st, 2008 at 1:21 pmThe Kostards are all over this like Rosie O’Donnell on stale, yeasty twat.
They’re claiming that if Palin had talked to her daughter about safe sex, instead of promoting “abstinence only” education, she wouldn’t be having a shotgun wedding.
BTW - Rachel, I can’t believe you’re leaving me for this raw genius! I mean, I understand I could never rival its brute intelligence, but still… I thought we had something. *sniff*
September 1st, 2008 at 1:23 pmDid you read this post before you made your comment? Jesus Q. Christ, she said quite accurately without spin:
So Crusader are you having an ‘orgy of impotent joy’ yet?
September 1st, 2008 at 1:26 pmIt simply amazes me that some people are just incapable of admitting they are WRONG!
And I’m just posting this because it is hilarious.
The juicy delicious irony … am I ridiculous in saying I am having a rip-roaring time rollicking time reading the forums of the enemy? I am blown away that the party who preaches tolerance and equality for all has unleashed a viscious langolierian-like attack against a child! I mean, they’re taking it to a whole new level of sleazy thuggery — even the mafia has a hands-off children policy, for fuck’s sake!
I really didn’t know that Kool-Aid alters DNA, destroys synapse connections and strips one a complete sense of humor until this election cycle began!
September 1st, 2008 at 1:29 pmI’m out of my league here:

September 1st, 2008 at 1:34 pmThey’re all about Hope, right?
September 1st, 2008 at 1:37 pmMaybe. But at least she doesn’t have to run out and buy a shotgun. ( although I personally will use any excuse to add something to my collection).
The only reason Michael Moor-on has any “gravitas” is because he’s the size of a small planet. (with an ego the size of Uranus).
We don’t need Hope. Hope is a hick town in an underpopulated state (gee, I’ve heard that somewhere lately) that sent us eight years of corruption (and counting).
September 1st, 2008 at 1:48 pmNo, sadly, the only thing that would make the Obamabots happier is if they manage to harass Bristol Palin into a miscarriage. Or suicide. This is the same Democrat party that found cause for malicious partisan political glee in Gustav hitting New Orleans during the Republican convention, after all.
And, for that matter, in all the deaths and damage Katrina caused three years ago.
Frankly, I can’t find anything funny about the Democrats’ vitriol and weapons-grade craziness anymore. The Dems aren’t a political party; they’re a hate group. They despise America, most of their fellow Americans and everything this country stands for. They’ve spent the last eight years basically trying to start a civil war in this country - the chickenshit attacks on the Palin family are just the latest salvo aimed at Fort Sumter - and God help us if these people end up controlling both the White House and Congress.
And no, I don’t think I’m the least bit pessimistic about this. Nauseated, perhaps; infuriated, certainly; but not pessimistic.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:09 pmObama already told the crazy lefties to back off.
Of course he did! His mom was 18 and pregnant with him at least three months before she married his dad (who was much older than she was.)
Plus, Obama is widely quoted as approving of abortion rights because he doesn’t want his daughters “punished with a baby.”
The Palin family doesn’t consider Bristol’s pregnancy a punishment and they aren’t going to kill her baby. They didn’t consider Sarah’s Down Syndrome baby to be a punishment either, and didn’t abort it or leave it on a shelf in a soiled utility room to die.
So many minefields here, so many lefties blowing themselves up. Gosh, this is fun!
September 1st, 2008 at 2:20 pmThe vile leftards are somewhat justifiably upset. Palin just doesn’t understand how the world works. As a “career wom*n”, Sarah was supposed to abort Tige, because he represents a drain on her time and resources and doesn’t allow her to fulfill her potential. (In other words, he’s inconvenient) And Bristol!! Well, what can one say? It’s her mother’s fault, in the first place for depending on teaching abstinence-only. One certainly doesn’t marry the father (if he’s known - and one doesn’t admit that if one is one of the cool kids) of the child. That would be a complete repudiation of her feminazi imperative.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:23 pmMaybe one of the oh, so modern feminists from the huffpo could give her some pointers and bring her up to speed. You know, so she won’t embarrass herself and us any more.
Oh, crap. I can’t keep this up any longer!!
/sarc
You have the bestest trolls, miss Rachel. I am so jealous.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:28 pmIf I read anymore of that link to AoS my head will explode. Holy living fuck, Modern Political Warfare? WTF?
Maybe we should use the same advice given for Joe Biden and apply it to this stuff, ‘just let them talk’ they will bury themselves.
I need a medicinal Budweiser, now.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:29 pmWell stated, Wes. I just looked at Huff Post (yeah, I know) and couldn’t believe the hysteria and loathing Sarah evokes from them. I have trouble dealing with the idea that these are my fellow Americans. The concept of class is completely unknown to them.
Their reaction when they lose this election is going to be off the charts.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:35 pmLet’s see if I understand this right . . .
John Edwards repeatedly denys having an affair with a woman he put on his payroll. He continues to run for president all the while denouncing the speculation as a vicious rumor. The MSM won’t touch the story because the source, National Inquirer, is not credible. Edwards eventually gets caught and is forced to admit it publicly, but denys to this day the child is his. The MSM screams “privacy!” and the story is buried.
Meanwhile, in the fever swamps of Daily Kos a total fabrication is dreamed up out of thin air. The press is all over it because, you know, Daily Kos is on the cutting edge of the new media. The truth arrives as a five-month, pregnant minor. VP candidate states publicly that the issue came up during the vetting process. Her daughter will bring the baby to term and marry the father. The word “privacy” isn’t even mentioned by the press because THIS is a public SCANDAL!
But we’re quite used to the double standard by now. Any wonder why the MSM is no longer trusted?
September 1st, 2008 at 2:41 pm“Fuck you and your fucking blog, asswipe woman” has GOT to be an anagram, or a secret code, or maybe a line from a Death-Rock Heavy metal song. It’s simply the best line of the day. You just have to grok it from the right angle. Go yell it in the backyard and see if an opossum materializes. I’m telling you, there’s a deep secret in there!
September 1st, 2008 at 2:44 pmI find any discussion of politics nowadays that doesn’t allow me to use my fists is a hugely dissatisfying experience.
September 1st, 2008 at 2:55 pmRobert, it is the Sooper Sekrit Rocket J. Skweril Code for the Attack on Iraq, er, I mean, Iran! We dropped A bombs on Iran last night and the duplicitous media is covering it up!
September 1st, 2008 at 3:09 pmI know it’s not really the thing to do but I just can’t help myself watching this trainwreck. One thing is for certain. Sarah Palin is immensely capable of making lefty heads explode. That’s the ticket, “Scanner” Palin for VP.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:17 pmI’m just wondering who in the world came up with such a vile and pathetic rumor? Such a thought would never have entered my brain…but I guess I’m just not that creative.
I know it shouldn’t, but it really does amaze me how demented these lefty wackoes are.
I’m not *happy* that her daughter is pregnant but I’m glad that she is choosing life. That is the HARD choice to make. The easy choice is getting rid of the “inconvenience”. She’s doing the mature and responsible thing … after making a bad decision to have sex. As if that’s never happened before!
September 1st, 2008 at 3:19 pmYeah, well, let’s keep the collective woody going. Thanks Rachel! Love it!
September 1st, 2008 at 3:21 pmFuckin’ A, Hammer!!
Arnie opted out of the post-apocalyptic battle against the all powerful machines overseen by skynet (aka lll) so we have a hot pol and a cool machine for the role:
Awesomeness!
Oh, and remember Reverend asshole of atheism fame, he of the nasty posts directed at RCHL? I propose he be forcibly pitted in a to-the-death cage match against Markos Moulitsas from the daily Kos, proceeds to benefit the Down Syndrome Foundation.
I’d so pay to see that. Assholes.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:30 pmI have never in my life seen such a loathsome and vile attack as Palin and her family have suffered in the past 48 hours. Never.
If ever there was a reason to abort a baby - inconveniencing/scandalizing a Presidential campaign - this is one. If Palin were a Democrat, their grandchild would be dead already. The fact that the Palins live their values in the face of the direst circumstances only makes me admire them more. They are tough as nails, and their progeny is, too!
And…some of you will fall off your chairs…I have to grudgingly admit that McCain has earned some respect from me for choosing Governor Palin knowing this was coming.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:31 pmIt is interesting to note, when I talked with Gov. Palin in February, I had no clue that she was pregnant. So if others were like me and amazed when she had a child, I can see where a rumor would start. But Jesus Esq.! To publish the rumor without any facts, is asking for a major in-bare-assed-moment (I forgot how to spell embarrassment). But the left is immune to decency or embarrassment so not to worry.
September 1st, 2008 at 3:38 pmThank God for the moderation filter. But still, glad you posted some of the crap because it is amusing in the sense that it reminded me of a great line from the film, As Good As It Gets:
September 1st, 2008 at 3:50 pmYeah, ‘Asswipe Woman’
Isn’t that a B-side Santana song?
I’m gonna be humming it all day.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:03 pmMaybe it’s all a blessing.
Consider.
*The lefties are all foaming at the mouth and spouting unfounded, foul rumors about a VP designate and her teen daughter, which will turn off a lot of independents who value family.
*When their heinous, lame conspiracy theory is proven to be made up out of thin air they go ballistic and continue to dump on said teen daughter and her unborn child.
*They make odious comments of why a beautiful baby born should have been killed for the “convenience” of his mother, and how it was irresponsible for her and her husband to CHOOSE to bring him into the world.
*They praise and have nominated for President a man who has voted on measures that deny care and comfort to infants born alive
*They have nominated for President a man with known terrorist associations (Ayers)
*They have nominated for President a man with know racist associations (Wright)
*They have implicitly or or deliberately been involved in a misogynistic campaign against a female candidate for President, which also involved a number of questionable (if not downright illegal) activities during various state caucuses
Even with the MSM’s standard “supporting the Dems position” I think this is going to be a tough sell when the other side is fronting a POW war hero reforming maverick and a PTA “hockey Mom” corruption-fighting barracuda huntress.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:06 pmMongo, I think “Asswipe Woman” was by Kiss.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:14 pmRachel, can we have a moderation filter installed on Nicki Fellenzers keyboard?! I almost tossed lunch on my desk after reading the FIRST sentence of her comment! I know I’m stealing this line from somebody, don’t remember who: “I need some bleach for my mind’s eye!”
September 1st, 2008 at 4:16 pmOh, and I’m sure Sarah “Wonder Woman” Palin is just crying her eyes out over the libtards nastiness. They just better hope she’s not pissed!
Whenever I think leftist websites and their commenters can’t get any lower they find another shovel and keep digging. If attacking Palin’s daughter is all they have it just shows how desperate they are for something, anything, to get momentum back. Can’t wait until it backfires on those loathsome scumbags.
@ Allen: “Scanner” Palin, I love it!
September 1st, 2008 at 4:17 pmExactly right, Paul! I blogged as a female milblogger for a few years and thought I was completely well-versed in how disgustingly low the Left could get - but this surprised even me. As a mom, I was so furious last night I wanted to throttle a real live Liberal just to blow off some steam. And because they deserved it for being so stupid, but mostly to blow off some steam.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:30 pmWow. That guy is so insightful that I think I just came a little bit in my pants. Not that’s there anything wrong with that.
Side note: the Palin announcement has energized a dispirited base and pissed off the Democrats. Those two little facts tell me all that I need to know about the selection.
Sigh. All of my thoughtful talking points about not voting for McShitSandwich might go by the board now. Still 2 months away and I’m still committed to not going for McCain, but the Palin choice and the batshit crazy reaction by the left is pushing me closer and closer.
BTW, if I someone decide to take the pipe and vote for McCain, I will take all the shit that people give me. In my possible defense, I will note that there is now an actual conservative on the ticket, so my vote would be, if it happens, for her.
Sounds like a rationalization already, doesn’t it? Shit again.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:31 pmThis whole election is both a very bad joke and a very seriously frightening Nightmare of cataclysmic or even apacilyptic prportions. And I don’t see any eclisoe of the sun saving us or any asshole squad leader giving us a rush for freedom. We have already run the jungle, and now we as a civilization can only await the worst, because there is nowhere in the world to go to escape it.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:42 pmTim, sorry to make you hurl. I tend to use creative similes a lot. But geeze! To demand a moderation filter on me? That’s just cruel!
Nicki
September 1st, 2008 at 4:48 pmIt most definitely is a blessing. From the first manifestations of Bush Derangement syndrome, (Selected NOT Elected, NO Blood for Oil, etc.) right up to this and all the “Rovian” conspiracies in between. I’ve been watching the implosion of the left with amusement that is now become unholy glee.
I say let it continue, let it get worse, because it only shows just how desperate they’ve become. It shows them as the party that uses hate and deceit to intimidate any who oppose them. And it’s backfiring into their face which drives them to even more desperate and despicable tactics.
It’s a self fulfilling prophesy of doom. The more they try it the more undecided voters they push away from them and over to the right.
I do believe a whole lot more of the 18 million PUMAs out there are going to tell Hillery to shove it and vote Republican, third party, or not at all, than the two or three thousand the MSM would like you to believe.
The remaining 60 odd days to the election are going to be more fun every day.
Personally I’m waiting for the claim that Bristol’s child is Bigfoot’s love child.
September 1st, 2008 at 4:57 pmIsn’t anyone going to play with little mousie “ed r”? He’s so vulnerable with his misspellings and his sad little twitchings as he awaits the end of the world.
Sorry, little guy. The “Nightmare of cataclysmic or even apacilyptic prportions” will not materialize and make your Visa bill go away, or get rid of your acne and make you palatable to the hotties who will be left in the smoking ruins. Dream all you want, but please get up tomorrow, wash your face for once, and get your butt to work.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:00 pmDid you know a few facts about Joe:
See, we can spin and speculate on facts, too. It doesn’t say ANYWHERE that these versions of events DIDN’T happen, after all. I mean, really, who’s to say what happened unless it’s discussed? Sling the shit, and then, if you’re so inclined, go for the fact-finding. Just please for the love of God keep your whine-maker firmly closed when you end up with a blowback shitshower; wouldn’t want to serve up an appetizer and thus spoil your appetite for turd sandwich with secret sauce.
But we have this little thing called class and an intrinsic desire to seek the truth over here on the right. Which is why I will now state that the abovementioned “facts” are all bullshit. Maybe. To the best of my knowledge : )
Liberal ass clowns.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:04 pmYa know, just because Sarah Palin advocates “Abstinence-Only” education in schools does not preclude her from teaching her children sex education and contraception in her own home. I realize that’s too difficult a distinction to understand for purists, but according to what I’m reading here on her Wiki-profile, it says she believes in contraception AND Abstinence-Only education in schools. So, why must these two things be mutually exclusive? Perhaps she preferred to discuss the matter directly with her children, herself, as opposed to having teachers, who simply never have agendas of their own, do it for her. This makes her a terrible mother how?
And exactly how do the critics out there know that Sarah Palin kept her daughter Bristol ignorant and without the most basic means needed to keep herself from becoming pregnant? How do these experts on everything know whether or not the condom broke? (Wouldn’t that be ironic? Hey, a broken condom happened to me and my spouse once, and I have a good friend whose teen son is about to become a daddy soon because of a broken condom. So it does happen!) How do they know whether or not Bristol was on birth control pills that may have failed? How do they know what goes on in an individual teenaged girl’s mind when she’s caught up in young love, feeling invulnerable, and thinking she has her whole future laid out before her?
I’ve seen nothing on the Feminists for Life group (that Palin belongs to) website to lead me to believe they advocate abolishing all means of birth control. Rather, they seem to provide support for women who wish to go through with their pregnancies by passing along information on resources that might help them do so.
But hey, I guess it makes a better story to paint Sarah Palin as Piper Laurie in “Carrie”, screeching about her daughter’s “dirty pillows” and locking her in a closet with a scary Jesus statue.
Yup, yup! Painting her that way will go over well with the church-goers of this country. It should also go over especially well with the parents of teenagers who are trying to keep them on the straight and narrow yet, knowing they’ve done all they can, still send them out into the world on a wing and a prayer, hoping everything will work out all right.
Again, let those who have nothing to hide or to fear pick up that first rock.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:12 pmWait till the Dems figure out how well Palin can connect with all us ordinary blue collar, self employed, and small business folks. No tired leftist class envy required. The world doesn’t match the liberal map. Palin and her husband are real union members. The Dems just hang out with Union Bosses.
I expect a whole new round of wailing and gnashing of teeth if the polls start showing the Republican ticket doing better than usual with union members. It might not happen, and this certainly wouldn’t apply to all union members, but I see real potential.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:17 pmI am APPALLED at the amount of nonsense Mrs. Palin and her family have had to endure over the past few days. It is totally unnecessary and it shows how truly heartless, ugly, and just plain tacky those on the left are.
With the way the loony left is acting you would think this is the first time in written history there has been an unwed and pregnant teenager! So we have one every once in awhile on the right, it’s not going to get my panties in a tangle. Shall we look at how many unwed teenage mothers we have on the left? Oh wait, I forgot, those people are entitled to privacy. My bad!
I find it quite amusing how riled up the left is over Mrs. Palin’s nomination. I hope she is at home smiling just a bit to herself, with the knowledge that she REALLY gets under their skin. I would be doing the dance of joy if I were able to invoke that kind of loathing from the left.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:20 pmBonnie, are you ABSOLUTELY SURE that you’re a real liberal - or are you just pretending?
And the lefties are now saying that this was all a Rovian plot” and they’re the wronged party. If that’s so, all I can do is repeat:
ROVE, YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD!!!
September 1st, 2008 at 5:31 pmI see the events of the past days, stressful as they are, as a good sign. If the Dems are so slam-dunk confident of victory, then why are they fighting like cornered rats?
September 1st, 2008 at 5:35 pm“The Kostards are all over this like Rosie O’Donnell on stale, yeasty twat. ”
UH-I was trying to EAT when I read that-had to give the rest to my little canine mooch
September 1st, 2008 at 5:37 pm“So many minefields here, so many lefties blowing themselves up. Gosh, this is fun!”
gets better by the day
September 1st, 2008 at 5:38 pm“I find any discussion of politics nowadays that doesn’t allow me to use my fists is a hugely dissatisfying experience”
screw that.We’ve moved beyonf fists.Gimme a ka-bar
September 1st, 2008 at 5:40 pmDear Everyone-who-posted-positively….
I love you all and thank GOD this site is available. I come here every day after reading all the HORRIBLE shit out there on the web. You guys make me feel better.
Anyhoo…this issue in no way will keep me from voting for McCain/Palin and I intend to send and an email to that effect to Ms Palin’s website. I also will drop a line to Bristol to let her know that people are behind her. I am sure she is feeling a little overwhelmed by now….I know I would be.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:40 pmPeople suck.
I’m still curious as to how this is a “disaster”. Bristol Palin is above the age of consent in her state. She’s keeping the baby. She plans to marry the boy who fathered the child. And she has a large and supportive family to help her adjust to the difficulties of pregnancy and motherhood.
Can someone enlighten me as to the “disastrous” nature of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy?
September 1st, 2008 at 5:46 pmWhat Bonnie said,
“The Palin family doesn’t consider Bristol’s pregnancy a punishment and they aren’t going to kill her baby. They didn’t consider Sarah’s Down Syndrome baby to be a punishment either, and didn’t abort it or leave it on a shelf in a soiled utility room to die.”
That’s what the silent majority will see, choosing life (twice) over career and convenience. What better way to practice what you preach? This is a positive as far as I se it and a lesson for all teenagers to see first hand, don’t grow up so fast.
September 1st, 2008 at 5:51 pmBy the way…
I think there is a new strategy being unveiled by the internet leftists. It consists of saying “I was going to sit this election out, but now, because of Palin, I feel need to vote for Obama.” This is the third time I see a comment like that today. It is designed to demoralize the Republicans.
(Just like the old “Moby” strategy of pretending to be a conservative that was against Bush.)
September 1st, 2008 at 5:54 pmOK, at the expense of coming across as “igorant”, what is a PUMA? I’ve tried to look it up on the web and get shoes. I’m sure it’s an acronym for women of some description, such a Hillary boosters. I do not and will not watch MSM, so I think I have, in fact, missed something, ie. PUMA. Tell me please so that I will be smarter than I are now.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:11 pmPUMA = Party Unity My Ass.
@sorge — yep, the Obamabots are already at it, but it won’t matter. The politically aware know to ignore it, and the politically unaware never even see it.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:15 pmThe point to make is that Sarah Palin was presented to us as the perfect Christian mom, and this basically totally defeats that image. OTOH, McCain knew about this before accepting her onto the ticket which causes me to question his sanity/judgment.
This doesn’t change my vote for McCain/Palin, but I worry how this will sway swing voters to Obama. Keep the eye on the ball: Ohio, Virginia, Floria, Colorado.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:23 pmPUMA — almost as cool as CUNT (Citizens United Not Timid)
heh
September 1st, 2008 at 6:32 pmThat strategy is to counter all the people who said “I was going to vote Obama until the mudslinging started now I’m voting McCain”
It’s a desperation move to make it seem like more are going to Obama instead of abandoning ship. trying to stop or at least slow down the defections without admitting there are defectors.
Cant let it appear that it’s something more than just a few losers from their side that think their wrong.
But it doesn’t matter. These people saying they changed their mind about not voting is just smoke and mirrors they were going to vote for Obama anyway.
It wont offset the decent Democrats moving away from the smear tactics.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:38 pmSorge L. Diaz —
Not at all a new strategy. I’ve pulled the shorts on a couple of them trying that at Dr. Helen’s site. Interestingly, they quit posting right afterward.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:40 pm“.. perfect Christian mom, and this basically totally defeats that image.”
How? Your raw assertion is meaningless.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:41 pmThe impression I got was she was being billed as the All American Woman.
And how does the All American Woman deal with her teen daughter getting pregnant? With love and support. Sounds pretty positive to this admittedly NONChristian atheist conservitive.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:44 pmCrusader –
Sorry that reads short. I hit the post instead of preview. How does it defeat her image and what is a “perfect Christian mom”? (Hit preview this time.)
September 1st, 2008 at 6:45 pmPeople I talk to who are not Christians agree with me that this is troubling on the face of it. If she can’t manage her own house - how can she manage “the peoples house”? Unfair, but it will have to be addressed by the campaign and you know the media sharks will be after it.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:50 pmHOLY CROTCHGOBBLER, HILLDOG!
Is that a cumstain on the Resolute desk?
Quick! Grab the lemon-scented Pledge!
Managing her house. What a laugh!
EDIT:
I think this is really magnanimous of Barry. Predictable, but honorable.
In true mafia style, Don Obamleone has declared the Palin family off limits.
September 1st, 2008 at 6:58 pmBy whom?
How does it “totally defeat that image” exactly?
Are you so abysmally ignorant of Christian morality that you think one moral failing instantly damns them?
Your hysterical reaction to this issue causes us to question your sanity and judgement.
But that sure hasn’t stopped you from coming here to complain about it.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:10 pmThanks, Jeff. I are now smarter.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:14 pmThere are no perfect any kind of moms or dads or “chidrens”. The good ones take the bumps as they come and do the best they can. Sounds like Sarah Palin is doing just that without blowing a gasket. She still sounds just fine to me. Good parents try to keep the boat afloat. Sometimes it means bailing like crazy and patching holes. My daughter turned out fine. She has given Nana and me 3 beautiful grandbaby girls. It was worth the work…boy, was it ever.
How typical of non-Christians to be totally ignorant of what actual Christians believe.
Right. Because controlling a rebellious teenager is exactly the same as running the country. Moron.
And I’m still waiting for you to tell me how Palin’s daughter taking responsibility for her mistakes and marrying the man who fathered her child is anything but “managing her own house”.
I would’ve gone with “stupid” but “unfair” works too, I guess.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:17 pmThat doesn’t sound very sanitary.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:18 pmFunny. That non-Christians would be so “troubled” by this. I find that terribly hard to believe. No, actually, I find that incredibly hypocritical. For obvious reasons.
The people I talk to who ARE Christians say this is not troubling at all. Palin IS managing her own house and the family already made a really tough personal decision months ago which is now being bandied about in the full glare of the hostile press. They are being forced to handle one of the toughest times in their family’s life in full view of everyone and their judgments, assumptions, hypocrisy, and full-on hatred. They are handling it with grace, far better than anyone I know, myself included.
I’d say any Christian would be proud of this family - no one expects them to be perfect, it’s how they handle themselves that counts. They are handling themselves with grace and dignity, and adhering to their principles when it would’ve been much easier to “get rid” of the problem in private. Contrary to troubling me, that deepens my respect, admiration, and TRUST in this woman’s conservative principles.
Governor Palin and her family are “good people” - salt of the earth. They represent ME and my people. I identify with them - moreso than any politician in recent memory.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:19 pmmightysam
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Love it. I always assumed Slick Wille was pretty unsanitary, myself!
And FWIW, I thought the exact same thing — BY WHOM? Who put Sarah Palin on a pedastal as the icon of Christian morality?
I know it wasn’t Sarah herself.
And this is so rife with hypocrisy, it must be parody (but, alas, ’tis not).
September 1st, 2008 at 7:26 pmTop ten Sarah Palin “mistakes/scandals”.
Deeply, deeply troubling, clearly the woman is not in charge of her own house.
Crusader, got sexism?
Yep, the little lady should have stayed at home to ya know, control the house.
Bwahahahah! They’re bringing us the cowbell.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:28 pmI was going to bitchslap Crusader, but I see that ms and RI have already taken care of it. However, I’ll add my own little bit:
No Christian is expected to be perfect. Far from it, as we all recognize that we’re sinners who fall short of the glory of God. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to do our best to emulate Jesus and his teachings, but we’re all destined to fall short many times in many different ways. What you’re supposed to do is be truly repentant (not that “oh, I’m sorry that I got caught saying some shit” kind that politicians, athletes and celebrities constantly express), own up to your mistakes and try to do better next time. So Palin’s daughter is keeping the baby and marrying the child’s father. Not that that’s the order I’d prefer for my daughter some day, but if that’s what happens, that’s what happens. And spare me your disingenuous bullshit about “keeping her house in order”. I know lots of teenagers who, regardless of their intentions or upbringing fall prey to their desires. It doesn’t mean that the parents screwed, it means that the teenager did.
Tell you what: my sister and brother-in-law are so far to the right of me that I look like Mussolini by comparison. I’ll ask them if they think Palin should burn in Hell for her teenage daughter’s pregnancy, or if they think that keeping the baby and marrying the father is a sign of good moral upbringing. My guess is that my sister will look at me like I have two heads for asking such a stupid fucking question. But hey, maybe you’ll be right and she’ll lighting the torches. Then again, the sun might rise in the west tomorrow so, you know, anything is possible.
I have a question that is currently troubling me: did either of Obama’s daughters ever pop ants with a magnifying glass and the sun like lots of other kids? If so, it would indicate that not only is Obama a complete failure as a father, he’s likely a fucking serial killer. Now I’m not saying it’s so, but some Christians and non-Christians alike are troubled by Obama, the Zodiac killer, which could be problematic for his campaign.
Dumbass.
September 1st, 2008 at 7:48 pmHOLY SHAT! Rachel Lucas an asswipe woman? Where do these deekheds come from? Oh, from the Daily Kos, no doubt!
September 1st, 2008 at 7:50 pmDo you think we should ask Markakos (spelling intended) Melitsos if it’s OK now for us to go after Chelsea and the Obama daughers? I’m sure he’ll give the OK once he’s cleared it with Soros. The only problem is, I don’t think we have anyone available who could match the little Kakas in their viciousness, spitefulness and sheer, er, Progressivism.
Does anyone else want to load those Kakos sociopaths on a bus and drive them under a Minneapolis overpass when their anarchist brethren are doing their cement bag drop? *Evil grin*
September 1st, 2008 at 7:57 pmThat is just priceless.
“She’s even willing to let polar bears die for oil.”
LOL
September 1st, 2008 at 8:10 pmI say go after the Obama daughters. No rules, no mercy.

September 1st, 2008 at 8:14 pmCrusader,
Please, for the love of God and the preservation of your own intellect, shut your ridiculous gobbler, and think before typing.
Thank you for your consideration.
EDIT — Unless you were kidding. And then I’ll apologize and shut mine.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:20 pmJust be aware — that last comment is not even remotely funny, and now I fully agree with physics geek in:re the bitchslappery.
Urk! He’s all yours, Rachel. Don’t let me get in your way.. [heaven help the poor bugger] Heh.
..more like a brain toothache.
Reading some of the KOS crap makes me cringe and want to go hide when I think I used to think like that. Yep, recovering/recovered? leftie moonbat here. It simply dawned on me one day how insane my thinking had become. I guess the main thing about such thinking is if everything is someone else’s fault or some conspiracy, then I didn’t have to take responsibility. In other words I had to start to grow up. No wonder you call them the KOS kids, because that’s what they are. Immature children, and we know how dangerous and uncontrolled kids can be when in the body of an adult and given the keys to adulthood without having earned it. That’s one of the terrible effects of welfare statism.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:42 pmI’m starting to think Crusader is a koskiddy pretending to be a conservative. Trying to instill doubt amongst us, for instance.
This is no worry at all. At more than a few blogs and news sites people are saying how they can connect with Sarah Palin, how she speaks for them.
This woman is one of us. She is by god a Redneck!
She doesn’t just have the grassroots vote she’s got the whole damn farm.
Like her or hate her she has Middle America in an uproar. This is why the left is out to smear her, they know she has the attention of people who wouldn’t give them the time of day.
No giant puppets here, no temper tantrum “protest marches”, no pithy catch phrases, just plain ol’ plain talk. Which I for one have been waiting to hear for years, from any political party.
September 1st, 2008 at 8:55 pmah just what we need - a redneck as VP.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:00 pmBeats a socialist for PRESIDENT!
Like I said She’s one of us, been there done that getting her hands dirty earning a living one of us.
Not some elitist prig who “feels our pain” because they read about it in a book some where.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:03 pmIf a ‘redneck’ is someone whose value system is even remotely recognizable to most American voters, sure. Why not?
With a little effort, a bath, and some soap, I’m sure she’ll clean up real good and presentable. Maybe she’ll give them coastal elites a nasty surprise.
McCain’s made his choice, for better or worse. Let the people decide in November.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:06 pmThanks for sharing the troll, Rachel! I howled with laughter over the “asswipe woman” comment. That was fabulously funny. XD
Anybody who thinks that Bristol Palin getting pregnant makes Sarah Palin a “bad” parent must have forgotten what it’s like to be 17. Other than locking her the hell up, by the time a daughter is 17, you really just got to hope your teachings got through her head and she doesn’t make a mistake… After all, you can’t reasonably ride herd on a 17 year old like you can a 7 year old.
By the time one’s child is 17, parents have to have begun the process of allowing that child at least a *portion* of the independence that comes with adulthood. But with that stepping back comes a reduction in direct parental control. And sometimes the child will capitalize on that reduction in oversight and make some poor decisions. When that happens, parents just have to make the best of a less-than-optimal situation. In my not-particularly-valuable opinion, the Palin family has made the responsible choices in this matter.
P.S. I don’t have any problem with a redneck as VP. Want I want is integrity, and it looks to me like SP has got it!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:09 pmCrusader = Moby (disguised troll)
Now go away little moby, or I shall taunt you a second time.
Bristol being preggo is a non-issue, Shit happens ladies and gentleman, being my libertarian self, I say give the Palin’s some privacy in that area. Especially with the baby.
Also, JFK is spinning in his grave at the what the Democratic Party has become. Congrats Democrats, you are crashing and burning your own plane.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:10 pmUmmm….no one presented Sarah Palin as the perfect Christian mother (although given the circumstances I could make a case for her being so). And why would McCain’s judgement be called into question for nominating a very conservative female governor for VP? Because her daughter made a mistake? Please.
Sarah Palin is a normal American, not an elitist like Obama. She was a PTA hockey mom, she hunts, fishes, loves her husband, and made the choice for life.
She’s authentic and the real deal. Conservatives will love her even more for the difficulties her family is currently experiencing.
The only ones dissatisfied will be those who want her (and the Republicans) to fail.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:11 pmCrusader Says:
I say go after the Obama daughters. No rules, no mercy.
———–
Leave going after someone’s family to the Leftists. I think we can aspire to the moral level of the Mafia and leave people’s families alone!
September 1st, 2008 at 9:12 pmI just watched O’Bama state that any of his staff that trashed the Palin family would be fired, that the candidates families were off limits.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:14 pmGood move on his part -raised my opinion of him to just slightly lower than a snake’s navel!
Ooooo, Crusader you’re hitting on all Stereotype Cylinders. Come on you can do it, the “negro” reference is a nanosecond off your lips.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:16 pmBristol Palin’s story nearly had my mother in tears today. We lived through this just a little over three years ago with my younger sister. My mother was saying how much she empathized with Sarah Palin, and how difficult this will be for the whole Palin family…
September 1st, 2008 at 9:24 pm… so she wrote the McCain/Palin campaign a check and will be mailing it off tomorrow.
There you go, Deanna. Now we see the evil genius of Karl Rove.
It’s all his doing, you see.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:28 pm/sarc
To quote Bill from earlier in the thread:
ROVE, YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD!!!

September 1st, 2008 at 9:32 pmTotally agree, baxtrice, but the liberals don’t. What utter irony. Think Jamie Lynn Spears, who Hollyweird liberals pedastalize as the poster child for super cool teen parenthood; her mother wrote the book on parenting (which got canceled. Heh).
From a People poll:
I knew I was raising the ‘Beckster right when she wrinkled up her cute little nose and swore off “Zoey 101″ (which she used to veg-out to on occasion) as “Sluts 101.”
Oh, and as for redneck veeps, little troll: being born in New York doesn’t automatically make one a liberal, and this particular former VP sure knows how to get my point across better than I can.

September 1st, 2008 at 9:36 pmHunt Johnson:
Don’t be too impressed with the Obamassiah.
He knows the lefty blogs and pundits will trash away at the Palin family no matter what he says.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:41 pmThe only reason the liberals don’t agree is because they want to howl “HYPOCRISY” to the moon. They think that because the Palin’s are “Christian Conservatives”, that Bristol’s pregnancy means that Sarah Palin is a fraud. The truth is, as any parent knows, and anyone who’s had black sheep in their family as well knows, is that you can’t control your kids 24/7. You can’t always MAKE them make the right decisions. That’s why this is a non-issue. That’s why I said “Shit happens.”.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:46 pmDitto what metro1 said.
Further, I’m reminded of the old advertising turnip that asserts, “There’s no such thing as bad advertising.” It doesn’t matter what people are saying about one, as long as they’re talking about him/her.
After 30 years in advertising/PR, I don’t know whether I fully agree with that or not but I do know one thing: the blogs are all talking about Sarah Palin — not Barack Obama and Joe Biden.
September 1st, 2008 at 9:51 pmI’ll wait and see a bit to determine the poll impact. All that matters is if this hurts McCain in Ohio and a few other swing states. The hard cruel math of electoral votes is all that matters right now.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:19 pmPerhaps it has been mentioned and I read past it, but:
This young lady has plenty enough on her plate without being made a can on the fence for every crackpot to take potshots at.
This cruelty to a stranger is breath taking. I think these people would torture Palin’s dog.
I grew up in a small town in the late ’40’s. We used to have meetings that were up close and personal with people who engaged in this type of malicous gossip. Usually, after the stitches came out, they were quite a bit quieter.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:26 pmFolks:
We here understand the power behind Gov. Palin’s personal story and political philosophy in a way that our friends on the Left (God love ‘em) never will.
We can only try, in good humor, to show them the way. But we all know just how difficult a task that is.
Sarah Palin is the real deal: she’s a conservative libertarian who keeps fighting for what’s right even after the election’s been won. she’s held a real job and is part of a real, dynamic American family. she embraces hunting and sports and children and religion and a clean environment and free enterprise and ethics in government and hard work and speaking your mind and doing what’s right. she is quintessentially American.
Thank goodness we have places like Idaho and Alaska where these essential American stories still survive and thrive - and where these values are still deemed normal and unremarkable.
Somewhere, with the “Big Guy Upstairs,” Ronald Reagan is smiling - and thinking back to his early days in Dixon, Illinois. It was a lot different there than in was when he got to Hollywood. But it was the values of Dixon, Illinois that won him two elections.
So it is a lot different in the Washington press corps than it is in Wasilla, Alaska.
Ronald Reagan’s and Sarah Palin’s conservative libertarian values are fundamental American (and, really, human) values. That’s why the Left was so shocked when Ronald Reagan - that midwestern kid who’d never gone to an Ivy League school and was just a “dumb actor” - won two Presidential elections in landslides.
The Left is always blind-sided by basic, conservative libertarian values.
When a true conservative libertarian politician runs for nationwide office they almost can’t help but win - because that’s the philosophy of America in a nutshell.
McCain/Palin have already won this election. The Left just doesn’t realize it yet.
September 1st, 2008 at 10:45 pmI’ve got to respond to Crusader. Cru, I became a grandmother for the first time at 39. My 18 year old daughter was dumped on our doorstep on Christmas Eve when her fiancee found out she was pregnant. It broke my heart, but we lovingly welcomed her back home (she had moved out) and supported her. In fact, I was her labor coach (awesome experience). I know full well what teenagers are tempted to do on dates. Did you expect Sarah to go with them on their dates to keep this from happening? Sheesh! If I could, I would vote for McCain/Palin twice.. once for each baby. And just for the record, my firstborn grandchild is a beautiful 12 year old girl who knows how much her mom loved her because mom did have an option, and chose to keep her!
September 1st, 2008 at 10:52 pmZOMFG! Can you believe it!!!11!one!!eleventy!!!
I just heard that Track Palin, conceived under the bleachers at Alaska Raceway Park while his drunken parents were indulging in their lifelong gambling addiction, is not really in the Army — he’s in seclusion while he loses his baby weight! Track is actually a hermaphrodite who impregnated himself, and is Trig’s mother/father!

September 1st, 2008 at 10:59 pmA guy I work with who’s a fervent lefty was giddy today at the news about Gov. Palin’s daughter. His nipples exploded with delight. He couldn’t stop chattering about it. How disquieting it is to realize that I’ve worked for years with a man who has been conditioned to hate someone of whom he’d never heard until a few days ago, and her whole family as well; a man with sons only a little older than Bristol who laps up the public humiliation of a teenage girl. How desperately sad.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:04 pmI haven’t read through all the comments, but I do see Denise’s and really appreciate what she’s written!
My birth-mom had me in the early 60s and chose to give me up for adoption. The fact that she carried me to term, dealt with the “shame” around it, and ultimately made the decision she felt was right. Well, I can never thank her enough. I have such loving parents (my dad died in 2006)– I couldn’t have asked for better. I know my birth-mom’s name is “Carol”, and that is all. She wasn’t willing to share any identifying info when I inquired over the past year. I’m just glad that she read the letter I had placed in my file– a letter of love on Valentine’s Day several years ago.
September 1st, 2008 at 11:17 pmBut isn’t that the way the Leftists see it?
September 1st, 2008 at 11:40 pmLadies, rowr. You had me at, “how dare you define what’s best for me or another woman!”
September 1st, 2008 at 11:55 pmMetro - didn’t get the snake’s navel bit eh?
September 2nd, 2008 at 12:01 amHunt Johnson:
ah - yes. snake’s navel. we used to refer to that as “lower than whale sh*t.”
seriously, though - i went over to…
http://www.johnmccain.com
…this past weekend and gave what I could.
i’m going to give a little bit each week up to November 4. a mccain/palin yard sign now proudly sits in my yard. i’ve volunteered to help at the local mccain phone bank.
if you’re going to be “energized,” d*ammit, be energized!
you’re never assured you’ll get a real conservative like Gov. Palin to vote for on a GOP Presidential ticket - so you’d better help them out when they’re there.
i am sooo ready to see:
1. sarah palin light-up Biden’s plagiarizing butt in a debate, and
2. Sarah “Barracuda” Palin as the President of the U.S. Senate (she’ll get to tell girly-men like Obama and Biden to “sit down, you’re out of order”!), and
3. after 8 years of the McCain Administration, to have President Sarah “Barracuda” Palin sworn-in as President after the 2016 election; i want to hear her give a talking-to to Pooty-poot’s latest lap-dog. heck, she’d probably lead an air and sea invasion from Alaska to Russia itself! we’ve got your “peace-keeping mission” right here, Pooty-poot!
now’s the time. we conservatives wondered when our candidate would be here. she’s here now. support McCain/Palin-
September 2nd, 2008 at 1:09 amI know I’ve already made a comment on this issue, but I made the foolish mistake of reading some comments on a lefty blog…
I’m just baffled at how those folks were carrying on about abstinence-only sex-ed, as though it was a massively important part of this presidential campaign. Huh? Since when? Furthermore, what’s the deal with yowling about the content of sex-ed as though the school is the only place kids learn about sex? The people were carrying on as though most parents never say a word about the subject.
But the truly astonishing stuff was from people who said that if SP wasn’t so SEEEEEEELFISHLY focused on her career, she’d have been home making sure her daughter didn’t get pregnant. WTF? I personally have encountered quite a few raised eyebrows because I opted NOT to work while my kid is small - from left-leaning folks mostly. So what’s the deal with this talk that SP reeeeeeeally shooooooould be home with her kids (if she really cared about them)??? Mixed messages, much?
Such nonsense and idiocy. I feel like my brain needs rinsing out.
September 2nd, 2008 at 3:07 amYeah, I think we’re learning a lot about our “fellow Americans” that downright sucks. They are crude, brutal, stupid, hypocritical characters that I am heartily ashamed of. They are certainly not of my Tribe.
BTW, DJ, I fervently hope you told your co-worker exactly what you wrote here. He sounds like he needs what little conscience he has pricked. People like him need to be shamed, and held to account for their incivility.
September 2nd, 2008 at 7:24 amWhoops. Moved this comment to Rachel’s new thread.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:07 amYour secret admirer sounds like a true Army of One.
Ran the writing style through the Gender Genie and it came up male once, female once and barely male a third.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:20 amFear the perky gleam, men! FEAR IT!
It usually means she’s been watching HGTV, and you’re about to drop five bills at Home Depot’s paint department.
September 2nd, 2008 at 8:27 amStephanie Miller is just mocking Palin mercilessly.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:36 amCrusader, in case you hadn’t noticed, no one is buying your faux “conservative” act.
September 2nd, 2008 at 10:53 amHeya, this goes out to physics geek.
Color me in the same boat. After CFR my likelihood of supporting McCain was at 0 for any elected office.
But, given that the VP candidate is usually the Presidential candidate to follow; just consider it 4 or 8 years of moderate suffering to get Palin (a real conservative) for President.
Rather than going through the random lottery pick that has given us Bush and McCain.
Yes it’s rationalization of a choice that initially was dismissed; but it sounds good.
I’m not sure I will vote for McCain, but given my lack of even moderate enthusiasm for any of the third party candidates it’s now possible…
September 2nd, 2008 at 11:27 amRachel: Are you sure it’s not a new incarnation of Glenn Greenwald?

September 2nd, 2008 at 12:01 pmAnyone who thinks that Bristol actually had a choice in whether or not to keep her baby is as delusional as the democrats. I’m voting for McCain, I never even contemplated voting for Obama, and I agree with about 95% of the things that Rachel says, but don’t think for one minute that “choice” was involved in the decision.
Also, I agree with the first commenter. This is a disaster. We’ll never know whether or not McCain knew about the pregnancy before it came out because under no circumstances could he publicly admit that he didn’t. That would be presidential suicide.
Last point. The fact that the Palins lied about the reasons their daughter was not attending school does not bode well. I think that and this entire pregnancy scenario sullies Palin, regardless of how much of a wonderful leader she may be. I was certainly disheartened and disappointed when I heard about it and feel it significantly undermines the abstinence only education that she is touting. It’s begging the liberals to make a case out of it. And, right or wrong, it doesn’t matter that she’s a candidate’s daughter–every aspect of a candidate’s life, history, family, associates–everything is examined and scrutinized.
September 2nd, 2008 at 3:02 pmI have to say I’m a bit disappointed about the whole Bristol Palin pregnancy story for one simple reason. When the lefty blogs wet themselves rushing to print the conspiracy story that Trig was Bristol’s baby and Sarah was covering, why didn’t the Palin camp trot out in front of the media and present a birth certificate printed in non-”DanRather” typeface and shut all those lefty assholes up?
They can still do it. Just hold a press conference with Sarah and her whole family presenting their birth certificates and say something like, “This is just to prove Trig, and the rest of my children are MINE and I know exactly what STATE and what COUNTRY they were born in.”
And the whole story goes away.
Nothing wrong with this battle plan. Not dirty, not underhanded, not sneaky, just an easy rebuttal to quell the rumors. Produce the original birth certificates, no copies, the real thing and the lefty self-love jizz fountain dries right up.
Because, the birth certificate I see presented on Obamarossa’s website does not look like it was printed on August 4, 1961.
Now, I’m no expert on digital printing and I can only assume if Barack was not born in the United States someone, somewhere would’ve proved it by now. But, to play the game, something’s fishy here.
September 2nd, 2008 at 3:10 pmConsidering the lengths to which the left has gone to beclown itself on that issue, NOT busting out a birth certificate was probably for the best.
Making the birth certificate public from the beginning would certainly have shut the lefties up, but it would have also defused this story before it ever really got going. By NOT making the birth certificate public, they are allowing the left to dig themselves further and further into a hole, not to mention garnering lots of sympathy from both the right and the middle.
In effect, they gave the left the rope they are currently hanging themselves with.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:39 pmI REALLY wish people would take some time and do a little research before making pronouncements like “McCain didn’t vet Palin”.
Wake Up America has a nice summary.
In short, she was fully vetted, and she volunteered the information regarding Bristol’s pregnancy and her husband’s DUI from two decades ago.
Sheesh.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:48 pm“The Dems aren’t a political party; they’re a hate group.”
Wow. I’m a Democrat and I don’t agree with this statement. Actually I kind of consider myself to be a conservative Democrat when it comes to the hot button stuff. I agree that a lot of them are going to use her daughters pregnancy as fodder for more mud slinging. It’s low and shouldn’t be done. But then this is politics and both sides have a tendency to go overboard.
Rachel I love this blog and while I don’t agree with you half the time it’s a great read. (Backyard Execution was hilarious!)
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:43 pmSorry, but the moral equivalence argument won’t save you this time.
Did the right go after Obama’s mother for conceiving him out of wedlock? No.
Did the right go invade the privacy of Obama’s children and publicize all their personal flaws and failings? No.
So saying “both sides have a tendency to go overboard” is, to be frank, utterly false.
