As most of you know, I am at this moment in the hideous throes of final exams. I spent five hours with my marketing group today (Sunday) practicing our presentation, which we have to do at 8 o'clock Monday morning. I also spent about five hours studying for one of my history finals, which will take place on Wednesday. Yesterday, I spent roughly 9 hours studying for my other history final, which will be on Thursday. Plus, I have two jobs. One of these jobs is wonderful and the boss is being patient and letting me get through finals (thank you, Connie), but the other one is atrocious and that boss told me no when I asked him for some time off to study. Thanks for rewarding four and a half years of loyalty and hard work, boss-man! Jerk.
Lucky for me, I happen to have a wonderful boyfriend-husband-figure who loves me and who knows how much I've been freaking out lately. So, knowing me like he does, he woke me up on Saturday morning by saying those magic words: "Honey? Ya wanna go shoot the living hell out of some targets at the range?"
Shooting the Stress Away
"Yes, please," I said groggily. "I want to break things." And so we went. And it was a good and correct thing to do. Nothing relieves stress like firing off a few hundred rounds and making things go boom.
And something was in the air yesterday because I was Annie Oakley. I started off with the .38 Special, unloading my first five shots into a 12-inch paper target at 10 yards with impressive accuracy. We then moved on to the beloved CZ 9 mm. In just a few shots, I managed to hit my man-shaped target precisely, impressing both myself and my boyfriend-husband-figure.
We even took the opportunity to blow up some old CDs at the range, with my marksmanship skills shining through as I destroyed them with ease.
The Joys of Shooting
Shooting guns is a fantastic stress-reliever, especially if you have a great day like I did where every shot lands exactly where you want it to. It's a thrilling and empowering experience that can make you feel in control and forget about the stress of exams and work.
While some may argue about the safety and dangers of guns, it's essential to remember that responsible shooting at designated ranges is a recreational activity enjoyed by many. It allows individuals like myself to blow off steam and focus on honing our marksmanship skills.
The Importance of Practice
Even though I had a successful day at the range, I recognize that there is always room for improvement. By analyzing my shots and noticing the cluster at the 4 o'clock position, I understand that I need to work on my aim and stance to enhance my accuracy. With regular practice and dedication, I can continue to excel and hit the bullseye consistently.
Overall, shooting guns offers more than just stress relief. It provides an opportunity for personal growth, discipline, and precision, all while enjoying a thrilling and exhilarating hobby.
So, as I face my final exams and the dreaded marketing presentation, I am filled with confidence and determination. And I have my man-shaped target full of holes to remind me of what I can achieve when I put my mind to it. Here's to a successful end to the semester, and perhaps another trip to the range to celebrate!
Life is good.
